Date Night at Foxwoods Resort Casino

I was a little unsure as to what exactly does the term “baecation” really meant. After some research I think I can officially say I was on a baecation this past weekend!

Hubby and I had the honor of staying at the Grand Pequot Tower at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket Connecticut. It was such a gloomy weekend, so it was the perfect indoor activity.

Everyone was so pleasant, from check-in to check-out. Upon walking off the elevator onto our floor, I was in complete awe. The floor gave me such ‘presidential vibes’. It made me feel like such an important person. The hotel had great amentities; pools, spa, room service. There are 3 different hotels available to crash. If you are into the night life/partying scene, I would recommend the Fox Tower. It is in the center of it all. Shrine Nightclub is right next to it and you walk out into the casino. Another great night-time bar is Centrale, also located in the center of the casinos; a young crowd, with drinks, dancing and sometimes even a live band.

Since I did not think I was the nightlife type of girl, we decided to stay at the Grand Pequot being that it is away from all the madness. Ariel and I were actually up all night drinking. There was such great vibes that everything just flowed nicely. Although the Grand Pequot was a great stay and beautiful hotel, I will definitely be staying at the Fox Tower next time. It is more conveniently located and easy to get to.

As you can imagine, we did not spend much time in the room. We were out enjoying the casinos, eating, drinking and, of course, doing a little shopping. The weekend was so rainy and gloomy outside that it was perfect for indoor activities.

Upon check-in, we decided to eat. There were so many different restaurants and places to eat that we decided to just grab a quick pizza and continue exploring all that there was to do. Ariel could not wait to start playing and I could not wait to hit the outlets.

As you can imagine, I am not one for gambling, so as he played, I shopped. The outlets had so many great deals. Nine West had beautiful pumps for $15. Kate Spade bags for under $100, H&M had items in the single digits. It was unbelievable. The outlets consisted of Steve Madden, Guess, Calvin Klein, Nike, Michael Kors, to name a few.  For my fellow coffee lovers, they even had a starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. I have not had the opportunity to calmly shop ALONE and peruse the stores since my daughters were born. I forgot what it felt like to go shopping, without being rushed or worrying about getting home to the girls.

Ariel did not win all the money I had hoped he would, but he won some. He also had an awesome time playing roulette. It was perfect for me, while he played, I drank. The drinks are free when playing the casinos! The staff was so pleasant, the food was delicious. We signed up for the rewards program because we just knew we would be back for more. There was so much more we wanted to do and did not get around to doing it all which definitely calls for another round.

If you are in the Connecticut area, the Caino’s should definitely be on your bucket list. And for the locals, plan a staycation or baecation. It is the perfect home away from home. Not too far, but far enough to get away from life’s demands. You really forget you are in the state of Connecticut.
