Living with Kids

I wish someone would have told me what living with kids would really be like. I may have reconsidered parenting. It sucks when you are the oldest sibling because you are usually the first one to go through things. I bet you my brother is thankful for the birth control I have given him because living with kids is not easy!

On most days, I cant even think straight. My girls are nonstop. They are two and five and full of energy. Living with these little divas is a mixture of exhaustion, fulfillment and just unpredictable.

We live in a small 3 bedroom ranch style home that I am constantly cleaning and tidying up. The laundry never ends, the mess is 24/7, no matter how many times I pick up after them. There is rarely any quiet time when they’re together because they either love each other or hate each other and are fighting over a toy or the television. Aylah makes a million trips to the kitchen for a snack and Amelia is always practicing her gymnastics stunts.

When I am home from work, I am all the way on. I’m in tuned with them, making them dinner, feeding them, bathing them, getting them ready for bed, cleaning, doing laundry. It just does not stop. Some days seem smoother than others, but for the most part, we’re on the go and before I know it, its 8:30 and time for them to go to bed. Peace and quiet comes to me after they are asleep.

I tried to keep up with a cleaning schedule but having kids is so unpredictable at times that routines are not always followed or don’t always work as planned. When Aylah was going through her terrible two’s, she would crave so much attention and it made it difficult for my husband and me to keep up with her. I had a hard time keeping things in order because she wanted my attention so much that it made things much more difficult.

And in the mist of all that madness, I still manage to find time to spend alone with Amelia. She’s getting older and understand a little more than Aylah does. I don't ever want her to feel like she’s being forgotten because her sister is going through a phase that has tons of temper tantrums.

I love my girls very much, but some days I want to hide under my covers. Lets chat about our experiences with our kids. Let me know in the comments below. I would love to hear your stories of your little ones!
