Who would have ever thought that the entire world will be quarantined? I never thought I would ever see anything like this in my lifetime. Being quarantine has turned me into a stay-at-home mom/homeschool teacher/working mom, all in one! This will definitely be interesting.

Schools were closed as of Friday March 13, as instructions from the school system and my employer were still being released on this pandemic, I had to take off from work both Friday and Monday to stay with my kids.

I compiled this list of fun activities that have worked for me and my girls that you can do with your little ones if you are also stuck indoors.

Bake

Amelia and Aylah have always gravitated to Youtubers baking cakes. I once asked Amelia if she was interested in baking and she said yes. I took this opportunity to bake a cake with both of them. It was a nice way to keep them away from the television, iphones and ipads and do something together. I wish I had my husband at home with us to snap some photos because it was such a memorable time. We baked brownies and they were delicious!

Watch Movies

I bunched up some blankets and pillows and throw them all over the floor for us to lay down and watch some movies together. We only got through one full movie, by the second one they both kept getting up and doing other things. I found myself laying alone watching Moana a couple times. Initially, it was a great idea and the girls loved to lay on the floor with me and snuggle as we watched a movie.

Color/Draw

Coloring books have always been great in our home. The girls both love to color and they always ask me to join them. I got them huge jumbo sized books as well as regular notebook size ones and that kept them entertained for a few. They did fight over crayons a couple times but all in all it is always a good way to keep them entertained.

Write a Story

Amelia needs to write for school each day so I stapled some paper together and had her write and illustrate a story. She wrote about a girl who loved gymnastics class. It was such a fun idea and Amelia absolutely loved it.

Puzzles

My kids really love puzzles, especially Aylah. She is 3. She will sit there a put the puzzle together and not get up until it is completed. And even after it is completed, she will not let you take it apart. It’s like she gets a rewarding feeling each time she looks at the completed puzzle.

Dance

My girls love dancing and playing music. I will play a bunch of kids bop songs on my phone and just jump around and dance with them. I may also play a Disney station off of Spotify or even play videos on YouTube.

Dress-Up

The girls have a bunch of old Halloween customs that they still love to play with. They dress up as their favorite Disney princess and just play in their room quietly.

Picnic

Just to make things fun, we had a in-home picnic. I cut up pieces of sandwiches, laid out a blanket, got my picnic basket with juices and waters and we sat in our family room and ate lunch. It was so fun for the girls and it made me feel good hearing Amelia tell her friends all about it. I know she enjoyed it.

Balloons

I don’t know why children love balloons so much. I have blown up balloons and just hit it back and forth to the girls and that keeps them entertain for a good amount of time. They love playing with balloons.

Being stuck at home can be hard, especially for little ones. Amelia starts to misbehave when she is bored and has nothing to do. I always have to make sure I have something for her to do or she is bound to get into some trouble. Whether its picking and bullying her sister or just being obnoxiously annoying, she will surely press my buttons somehow. Having this list of activities readily available to pick from when were stuck indoors has really helped me avoid some frustrations yet are also fun ways to spend some time together. Hope this list helps you as it has me. Always be sure to have some fun!
