How to Tackle the Invisible Motherhood Mental Overload
Hey Ya’ll!
I have to take a second to discuss this invisible mental overload that most mommy’s experience. I have a friend, who I love so dearly, she has inspired this post.
She is so strong, this friend but she is going through it. I want to be there to help this friend as I am sure my dear friend is not alone. As moms, we are all tackling the overloads that come with being a mom, right? Working our jobs, keeping a clean home, connecting with our kids, cooking dinner, etc. Its exhausting and we need all the help we can get so that this exhaustion does not begin to affect our health and we are able to give our children all whole selves.
So here are a few ways I have managed to stay afloat when juggling life and motherhood.
Jot things down.
Whether you are into electronic reminders on your phone and a good old fashion pen and paper, write things down. I am constantly writing down blogging ideas that come to mind along with tasks or things to-do. And call me old fashion but I am visible, so I am into the good old fashion pen and paper.
Do it Now
I mean that literally! I always find myself saying “i’ll do it later” and later never comes. I am guilty of mentally texting someone yet never having really done so. I try to respond to each text message the moment I read it because if I do not, I may never will. Same thing with our laundry. I have to wash, dry, and fold all in one shot. I have had clean laundry sitting in the laundry basket for days telling myself I will get to it and I never do. So take a few more minutes and just do it now and do not leave it for later because if you are like me, later never comes.
Set An Alarm
I tend to set alarm when it comes to conference calls, appointments, meetings, etc. I have been busy of missing appointments because I did not set an alarm and simple lost track of time. The anxiety i feel afterwards is no fun so I make it point to always add events like these to my calendar so that I am reminded of such events prior to the time.
Automate What You Can
This helps a lot for my blogging business. i normally schedule my Instagram captions and blogs to launch at a specific time and day. I try to be consistent with my content so I’ll normally schedule my Instagram feed posts to launch at 8am and my blogs launch every Thursday at 8am as well. I find 8am is a good time for engagement and my audience seems to respond nicely to the time so I don’t ever want to miss it.
Delegate
As hard as this was for me in the beginning, delegating is my best friend. I do not always have all the time in world to clean my house or cook meals and these are tasks that I may not necessarily want to do, but are necessary. My aunt loves to cook and has no problem with cooking enough dinner for my family almost every day, so why take that away from her. I give her money for food and she in returns cooks for us. On some days, all I have to do is simply pick up the food. She normally leaves it in tuber wear and ready for pickup. Cleaning is another tasks that I may not normally enjoy. I have someone that comes once a month and does a deep cleaning of the house, I just maintain it throughout the weeks. Its a win win. I think the next task I am looking to delegate is my laundry. Any takers?
